This morning, Pedro and I spent 2 1/2 hours in the notary's office. Yep, 2 1/2 hours ... and less than 10 minutes of that was spent standing in line, for which we are ever so thankful!
We are also thankful that we had a very helpful, knowledgeable agent who carefully helped us with all 56 notarizations we had to have done (yes, you read that number right!) You see, now that we are adopting two children we get to do double the paperwork!
Chile is known for being one of the most paperwork-crazy countries in the world, so I guess we fit right in today. I'm sure the other people in the waiting room weren't that keen on our monopolizing one of the agents for so long, but everyone survived!
We started getting really nervous, however, when we realized that not only was every document being notarized, but every page of every document (several of them were up to 7 pages long) was getting notarized - and we were going to have to pay for each one!
Just before going into the notary's office, though, we had prayed for God to help us in our endeavor and He did not let us down. When the time came to pay for our huge pile of paperwork, the agent only charged us 1/2 the price, saying it was just too expensive otherwise! Praise the Lord! We left with a chunk of work accomplished and renewed faith that God is indeed leading us on this path towards our babies in Haiti!

PTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a blessing!! Our class prayed for you in church yesterday, and one thing we shared was the finances!!
I'm finding it's amazing how God shows himself when we only stop to look ...
That's great! It's amazing how long stuff like that can take! It also took us two hours to go over our (mostly) completed dossier with our social worker!
