Waiting on Reports

We have been running so much, getting paperwork done for this adoption, that it feels like time stands still when we are in between errands.

Yesterday, Pedro and I individually met with the psychologist and did the famous "blot test" ... hopefully we saw the right things! (I saw angels and churches, doesn't that sound ever so spiritual?? of course, I also saw a bleeding heart and set of lungs!)

We are waiting on his reports.

Today, Pedro and I went for our second visit with the medical doctor, blood work in hand. Thankfully, according to our blood work we are both well with the exception of borderline low "good" cholesterol and borderline high "bad" cholesterol. (Yes, we need to work on that!)

Together with the doctor we walked several blocks with numerous papers in hand to a nearby notary while his office full of patients watched us leave and sat and waited. (I felt very bad about that and apologized several times, but he kept assuring me it was okay!) To the other patients' good fortune and to our not-so-good fortune, the notary would not notarize the documents. Instead, he told the doctor that a formal letter with all of his credentials must be typed up which says that he (the doctor) takes full responsibility for everything written in those medical reports. They will notarize that formal letter. In the end, that will probably be best anyway.

We are waiting on his reports.

Once we get those documents, we need to take those and various other documents to two separate offices in downtown Santiago for the legalization process. Then, we need to have them translated to French. And then, we need to visit the Haitian embassy for authentication. I am a little nervous about these last few steps and hope all will go well. We appreciate your prayers to that end!
