Names

I've had a number of people ask if we are still going to have our "Ian" (as per the name of this blog!) and the short answer is yes.

To honor their birth mothers and maintain a link to their birth heritage, we will keep the boys' Haitian first names as their middle names. To welcome them into our family, we will give them first names that fit in with their soon-to-be siblings - starting with vowels, of course! (:

"Ian" means God is gracious and is the name we as a family chose at the very beginning of this adoption journey, over two years ago. "Alec" means helper and defender of mankind and though we chose it mainly because we liked the sound of it, as I have considered its meaning I have found it very fitting ... because these Haitian babies and children are desperately in need of being helped, and defended, from the circumstances that surround them!

I can't take my eyes off the new pictures of our two boys. It is such a joy to be able to look at their beautiful faces! But it is also been hard, very hard, because now that they are this much more real to me I feel like I am failing them with each day that passes without being able to begin processing their paperwork.
" ... for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things." (Mt 6:32b)

This comment is actually for the post you changed or deleted...
I went to Haiti for a missions trip back in '02 or so... and left half my heart there. So when I saw the post about voting for Nora Jean, I was all over it. The rules said up to 10 votes per email address, and since I have a bunch of email addresses, well..... *grin* I hope it helps her!

BTW... I really enjoy reading your blog, so I added you to my list of blogs I visit. I'll definitely be back!
