For Those Who Have Asked

I have had several people ask me about adopting from Haiti since the earthquake. I feel very inadequate to respond to this question. Frankly, right now there are so many unknowns that it is impossible to clearly envision what the future holds for Haitian adoptions.

What I do know is that prior to the quake, the process to adopt from Haiti was heartwrenching, neverending, confusing ... but so worth it. And I know that the process to adopt from Haiti will be worth it again. It is my prayer that it will also be less heartwrenching, less neverending, less confusing. International adoption is never easy but neither does it have to be this hard.

The beautiful children of this broken land deserve better.

I praise God that through the devastation of this earthquake we have literally seen His hand reach down and protect these precious ones. I praise Him because He has moved mountains to bring children out of the crumbling remains of their orphanages into the loving arms of their waiting parents. And I pray that many, many more children will experience this blessing as well.

The best advice I can give is to contact an agency that already had a Haiti adoption program in place prior to January 12, 2010. Give them your name and let them know you are interested in adopting from Haiti. Fill out a preliminary application. And then prayerfully wait and watch and listen for the news which will surely come.

But don't only wait ... also do something NOW for the orphans of Haiti! There are many organizations still lacking even the most basic necessities for their children. Besides prayer, their greatest need is funding to purchase what supplies are available. Please consider ministering to Haiti's orphans in this important way.

Thank you for caring for the precious children of Haiti. Please do not forget them. They need our love, prayers and tangible support now more than ever!
