The "Labor"

"Adoption has its labor just as pregnancy does,
though an intensely emotional rather than physical one."
I wrote this statement some time ago when I was chronicling our family's adoption story (to read our story in its entirety, you can follow the link on the right - or, if you happen to receive the Stepping Stones newsletter it will be published in their May/June 2008 issue!)

Last night, as I spent a considerable amount of time in tears, I was reminded again of just how true it is.

Due to a misunderstanding with someone involved in our adoption process, I received a critical e-mail that hurt my feelings deeply. On the heels of a week in which I literally spent hours upon hours on adoption paperwork and in which our family had to run from this office to that for interviews and making every piece of paper "official" (not to mention the money involved with each of those things) ... I was crushed.

On top of that, we have literally taken every member of our family to the doctor since returning from Colombia two weeks ago - Eva has been twice, once for a checkup and a few days later to the emergency room for an ear infection, and now it looks like Isabel may need to go in yet again due a recurring fever the past few days.

Needless to say, I probably needed a good cry and I certainly got it! Thankfully, this morning things are much clearer and we continue to maintain our focus where it needs to be (as it pertains to the adoption) - on the children and their well-being, which is truly the priority.

Please keep praying!

Sounds like you are getting it double for sure no matter which way you turn
