Travel Status (To Be Determined)

After yesterday's adventures, our travel status is still to be determined.

The bottom line is that we are not allowed to travel without jeopardizing our Chilean paperwork until we receive written confirmation that our permanent residency request was properly received and is being processed. This normally takes a minimum of 10 days.

That said, there was an instance in the recent past where a missionary colleague provided proof (ie, photocopies, postal receipt) of having submitted the necessary paperwork and the immigration office agreed to provide a letter verifying this fact and thus allowing a scheduled trip to take place.

So, I plan to head downtown early Monday morning (today is a national holiday in Chile and all offices are closed) with photocopies of our permanent residency request, our stamped receipt from the post office, a copy of our flight reservations, the e-mail from USCIS in Haiti confirming our August 20 appointment to file our I-600, and - last but certainly not least - pictures of our babies in Haiti. I will plead on bended knee for them to provide a similar letter for us so that the trip can go forward as planned!

Please pray with us - and thank you to so many who have expressed that you are already doing so!
