Heartache

Please keep the Salzwedel family in your prayers ... they are the latest family to suffer deep heartache in their adoption process, having recently learned that their daughter's birth mother has changed her mind about the adoption plan and is choosing to remove her from the orphanage after a year's time despite being her own lack of resources to care for her.

In a perfect world, no mother would be faced with the decision to relinquish her child because of a lack of resources. In a perfect world, children would not suffer and die horrible deaths every day from starvation. In a perfect world, babies would not have to be rescued from ravines filled with sewage and children would not be toiling in slavery.

Haiti is far from a perfect world.

There are no winners in this situation, only a mother facing the tremendous challenge of raising a child amidst poverty; a child facing yet another transition and struggle in her young life; and a family mourning a loss every bit as painful and real as a miscarriage or stillbirth.

Please pray for each of these, and for every family trying to keep the faith through the months of waiting and unknowns, hopes and discouragement of Haitian adoption. Pray that God will perform miracles in this situation and so many others. Pray that we would all have the strength to trust His sovereignty even in the midst of darkness, and to see the light of His good and perfect purposes come the morning ...
